ということで。
アメリカサクソフォン界の生きる伝説、というか現代のサクソフォンの歴史においてこの人なくして語れない！というほどの素晴らしいお方、ユージン・ルソー氏のトーク&ミニコンサートに行ってきました。
まさか日本でお会いできるなんて。
さすがに今回初めてお会いしましたけれど、それにしても日本で会えるなんて本当に嬉しいです。
彼はケネス・チェやオーティス・マーフィー各氏の先生であり、先にも言いましたが今のサクソフォン界には欠かせない人物なのであります。
詳しくはまた後日、そのレクチャー内容も含めて書いていこうと思いますが・・・
最初はピアニストの松浦さんと共に。 御年80歳。冗談はよしこさん・・・ｗ本当にすごいおじいさま・・・
その後のトークは、
プロジェクターに映される写真なんかも交えつつ、彼自身のキャリアの話、
ヤマハとの出会いやその仕事っぷりの話なんかもしたり、
その楽器の実験中の様子やら、資料がいろいろ出てきたりして・・・ これはルソー氏の自伝にあるのかな？ ないかも！？(不確かです。。)
貴重なお話だけでなく、貴重な写真や資料やらを見られて。
更には若い日の雲井さんや石渡さんもその写真に出てきたりなんかして、その当時の話を・・・と突然話を振られても答えて下さった両氏。
彼のコンサートやトークは勿論、素晴らしいセッションでした。
休憩前はマイナスワン(カラオケ的な。伴奏だけのCD)で、スターダスト。
他にも休憩時間には昔の楽器がずらりと。
一番手前はYAS61というもので。
今は62というモデルはありますので、その62の前身となったものです。
キーの配置や大きさや、楽器の色自体も結構違うんですね。ちょっとセルマーっぽい。
ヤマハはオレンジ系の金だと思っているのですが(私は。)、その61なんかはちょっと黄色っぽい。
普通のコンサートではない楽しさが、こんなところにもあったり。
その後のトークでは、ルソー氏が今まで一緒に仕事をしてきた、偉大な作曲家やら音楽家の話。
クレストンとか、フェルドとか、フーサとか・・・
更には、グラムフォンかな？
彼がコンチェルトをレコーディングしたCDがありまして(それが私が最初にルソー氏の演奏を聞いた瞬間でありました)、その製作の経緯や裏話なんかを話して下さいました。
他に、若い世代へのメッセージとして、少し話したあとに、Be the best you can be!と。
いや、他にも大切な言葉をたくさんくれましたが、もうこの一言に集約されてしまう気がする。
その後のガーシュウィン、そしてアンコールのハーレム・ノクターン・・・
幸せな時間でした。 というより、私がルソー氏と、それも日本で会うことが出来たなんて。
終始、私の顔はずっと笑っておりました。
終わった後、CDにサインを貰って来ました。うん、だってミーハーだものｗ
Now, Dr Rousseau is in Japan and he had a concert yesterday, at Ginza-Yamaha salon.
It was so great and I was really glad to meet him in Japan.
When I heard the information about this concert, I was surprised and I couldn't believe I can see him in Japan!
He perform 3 pieces (and an encore) and told us many things about saxophone and his career.
When he started to play saxophone and why,
He was studying with Trombone player,
Study abroad in Paris and he was studying with Mule,
How did he start to work with Yamaha,,, and so on.
Yamaha prepared some pictures and many of them, you can find in his biography.
Others, the pictures he's trying new horn, maybe you can see it only that moments... Yeah..!!
Some of pictures, there're Japanese saxophonists such as Mr Kumoi and Mr Ishiwata.
So then, Yamaha stuff asked Mr Kumoi and Mr Ishiwata to tell us interesting story about tryout.
During intermission, we can see some historical horn.
Have you ever seen YAS-61? This is prototype of YAS-62.
Many Japanese saxophone geeks and students gathered and touch it!
After the intermission, he talked about some great composers/musicians he was working with.
For example, Creston, Feld and Fusa....
I'm gonna write later.
He also told us the story about his concerto CD.
This story has interesting process, I think....!!
After that, he gave a massage for young saxophonists.
He gave us some words and said, "Be the best you can be!".
What is the best I can be?? well, I'm gonna think about it and choose my career...
End of this concert, he played Gershwin and Harlem Nocturne as an encore.
It was precious moment and I never forget his words and playing.
After the concert, of course I tried to talk with him and he gave me his autograph!!
Yeahhhhhhh that's so fabulous...!!!
He is really kind to us and warm person.
I wish if I could ask him some questions...!!
Hope I can meet him again. In Japan? US? or somewhere...
